Waffles with Caramelized Apples

  • 2 apples, peeled and chopped small
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp water
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

For The Waffles

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp baking powder
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/3 cup oil


For The Apples

  • In a saucepan over medium-heat combine the apple, brown sugar, water, butter, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook, stirring occasionally until the apples are tender, about 20 minutes.

For The Waffles

  • In a bowl combine the flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar. In a separate bowl combine the eggs, milk, and oil. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and mix until moistened. Cook the waffles according to your waffle iron.
  • Top each waffle with the apple mixture and serve.


We like to use Braeburn apples for this recipe.
Keep the waffles warm by placing them in a 200ºF oven on a sheet pan.
