The premiere of season 14 of The Voice featured one contestant's country vocals turning all four coaches' chairs. Justin Kilgore blew the audience away with his rendition of Chris Young's "Tomorrow" that showcased his beautiful voice.
Naturally, Blake Shelton hit his button to turn around to ask Kilgore to choose him as a coach, but Shelton was blocked by a fellow judge! That left Alicia Keys, Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine as Kilgore's choices.
Once Kilgore mentioned his love for Reba McEntire, Clarkson did a victory dance, knowing that her close relationship with McEntire, due to her marriage to Reba's stepson, might come in handy when it came down to Kilgore's decision.
The coaches fought particularly hard over Kilgore since there was an obvious emotional depth behind his crystal clear vocals. Kilgore grew up in a small town where he felt unable to express himself as a gay man. "I've never been out of the closet when I did country music," he stated on the show. "The Voice is the first opportunity that I have to be myself in my entire life."
