There's certainly no shortage of Christmas classics to sing this holiday season, but sometimes a modern artist perfectly captures the forlorn feelings that can hit you this time of year. For Canadian singer-songwriter Maddison Krebs, Taylor Swift's "Christmases When You Were Mine" is one of those perfect holiday songs.
In her new performance video, which Wide Open Country is premiering today, Krebs delivers a shimmering Americana version of the melancholy tune.
"I respect Taylor Swift immensely not only an artist but as a songwriter too," Krebs tells Wide Open Country. "I've always loved this song and whenever I sing it, I feel the lyrics bring up special memories of the past and the longing to be with the one you love."

In addition to getting to revisit some of her favorite Christmas songs, Krebs says the holiday season represents a time to revisit her native Canada and spend time with family.
"My favorite part of the holiday season is getting to spend quality time with family and friends," Krebs says. "Being from Canada, there's nothing like a white Christmas with some hot chocolate. My family and I are usually outside skating on the rink in the backyard, or playing board games inside. I'm always so excited for this time of year!"
Krebs will perform at Nashville's historic Bluebird Cafe on Dec. 12. For more information on Krebs, visit her official website.
