For most people, a cookie is a pretty small thing. I, personally, don't think I'd bat an eyelid if I had a cookie stolen from my house.
But things work differently when it's a big company. Every cent of profit matters—and at the end of the day, stealing is stealing.
But one Ford employee says that this mindset was taken a little too far after he was fired when he actually did nothing wrong. As reported by Dexerto, 60-year-old Kurt Kromm, who had worked at the Kentucky Truck Plant for over 11 years, ended up losing his job after Ford apparently had footage of him stealing a cookie from the plant's canteen.
He explained that a union rep had said to him, "They got you on video stealing a cookie." That sounds pretty waterproof as a claim to me—video doesn't lie... right?

Ford Said He Didn't Pay
They used the footage to argue that he didn't pay a cent for the cookie. But, he recalled thinking, "I earned over $200,000 last year. Why would I steal?" That's a valid thought, to be fair to him.
He also explained that he was pretty aware of the things he was purchasing. He said that he had "spent $1,200 last year in the canteen." So, stealing wouldn't make sense in that way, either.
And he even had a story as to why he bought the cookie in the first place. Kromm, a diabetic, explained that his blood sugar had dropped during an overnight shift.
Of course, it's therefore a medical requirement that he got something to fix that. He explained the first kiosk he used to purchase the cookie didn't work, so he used another.
He Had Proof
He ended up needing to use a screenshot from his banking app to prove it. It showed a charge that matched the supposedly stolen cookie.
"I'm thinking, this is the way my career at Ford Motor is going to end?" he mused. But it did; and maybe for the better.
He's now on better hourly pay and even works close to home. This whole thing might just lend a hand to the whole "blessings in disguise" thing. We're glad it all worked out for him in the end!
