Tootsie Rolls

Do You Remember Vanilla Tootsie Rolls?

Chocolate Tootsie Rolls are classic, but what about the other forgotten Tootsie Roll flavors? Known as Tootsie Fruit Chews (not to be confused with Frooties!) the fruit-flavored candy has the same chewy and taffy texture of the chocolate variety. Available in five different flavors (cherry, orange, lime, lemon, and vanilla), these treats are super popular Halloween candies. My favorite was always the vanilla, but it was always a chore to search through the variety pack for them. Thankfully, Tootsie Roll listened and released limited edition Tootsie Roll Vanilla Flavored Midgees. Oh yea, a whole bag of Vanilla Tootsie Rolls? Count me in!

Tootsie Rolls Releases Limited Edition Vanilla Tootsie Rolls

Known as Tootsie Roll Midgees, these snack candies are the perfect snackable size candy. There has been some controversy with the name "Midgees" due to how closely it resembles the derogatory term, "midgets".

Tootsie Rolls currently come in eight sizes including Midgees, Mini-Midgees, 5-Cent, 10-Cent, 20-Cent, Giant Bar, Count Good Bag, and Snack Bar. The vanilla candy is made with artificial flavor and other ingredients such as sugar, corn syrup, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, condensed skim milk, whey, artificial vanilla flavor, and soya lecithin. Each bag is 12 oz, which is approximately 50 midgees candy pieces according to the product information.

If fruit-flavored candy is more your thing, check out Tootsie Roll Industries' Frooties candy. One of the last American-made penny candies still available, these fruit rolls are soft and chewy and make great party favors. Available in 11 sweet tooth-pleasing varieties: Green Apple, Grape, Fruit Punch, Strawberry, Watermelon, Strawberry Lemonade, Blue Raspberry, Lemon Lime, Cherry Limeade, Mango, and Sour Cherry.

What's next for Tootsie Rolls? My wish list includes caramel Tootsie Rolls and peanut butter Tootsie Rolls. If they can do it with chocolate and vanilla, why not peanut butter?
