According to the New York Post, Ramirez was arrested at around 5:30 p.m. by Port Authority police. Previously, the Community Security Initiative, a program run by the UJA Federation and the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York, flagged the alleged threats, reported them to authorities, and warned local synagogues in New York City.

According to WABC, Ramirez was stopped previously at Kansas City. Reportedly, local police discovered he was in possession of a firearm. However, when he was stopped on Friday at the Lincoln Tunnel, he didn't have any weapons.

The New York Post reports that Luis Ramirez has no criminal record. Due to this being an ongoing investigation, no charges have been filed against Ramirez at the moment. He is currently being held at Hudson Correctional Center in Kearny, New Jersey. His arraignment is expected to take place on Saturday, February 15.

Troubled Social Media Posts

The alleged threat to carry a mass shooting was posted to X. Ramirez's posts date back to 2018. While his posts seemed normal, everything changed starting in January 2025. Ramirez claimed he was being followed by Chinese and Indian spies. On February 13, he stated he was visiting New York City on the 14th, mentioning the Central Synagogue at Lexington Avenue. A day later, his alleged threat was posted.

"The Jews killed me in my past life if you try to kill me again today in NYC when I pull up to Shabbat I will kill you first and condemn you to hell in a past life," Ramirez wrote. "I went by the alias Adolf Hitler. Adolf means noble wolf and Hitler means to guard and look after my purpose in that lifetime was to punish you through holocaust for killing me."

Following his threat, he would continue to post similar troubled messages. Ramirez clarified that his posts and alleged threats were not "anti-semitic," but rather "self-defense." He then claimed that he went by George Washington in a "past life." In that regard, he also claimed to be a resurrected Jesus Christ, while Donald Trump was the resurrected John the Baptist.
