A tragic event unfolded the other day at a USPS facility right outside of Houston. There, a USPS worker was shot and killed by a co-worker in what appears to be a senseless act of violence. Police have arrested a suspect and are working tirelessly to provide the victim's family with answers.

USPS Worker Shot And Killed, But Why?
Monday night, around 10 p.m., USPS contractor Kevin Hines was murdered at his workplace. The suspect has been identified as his co-worker, USPS employee Derrick Lott. Lott has since been charged with murder and is still in custody.
While police have the basics of the situation, there is still much that is unknown about the case. Currently, they have no indication as to why Mr. Lott would have murdered Mr. Hines. When police arrived to the scene they found a USPS worker shot with gunshot wounds.
They evacuated the remainder of the facility and the NY Post shares that "video form the scene shows dozens of workers outside the facility with a heavy police presence at the scene." However even with this footage police are still currently unsure of how, why, or where exactly in the building this incident took place.
The Investigation Continues
Although the suspect is in custody, the investigation is far from over. Several details are still missing about why the USPS worker was shot. USPS and The Missouri City Police Department are continuing to work together to finalize the investigation and bring closure to the victim's family. While the investigation continues, all mail processes at the facility have be halted.
U.S. Postal Inspection Service Acting Inspector Mona Hernandez, Houston Division, had this to say regarding the incident at the facility. "Our employees deserve to feel safe when they come to work. Postal inspectors are working tirelessly to ensure justice is served on behalf of Kevin Hines, his family and all of the employees who work in this facility."
Finally, the NY Post shares that Dana Carter, an inspector with the Houston Division of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, assures the public that the suspect is in custody and there is no current threat to the community.
