Nakedra Shannon, Desiray Gardner, and Donell Carter have netted themselves a total of 60 and 54 months in jail respectively for their mail theft scheme. Over the course of a few months, they managed to steal and sell millions of dollars worth of checks from USPS. Shannon admitted to the heist from April to July 2023.

The report states that while working as a mail processing clerk, Shannon handled incoming and outgoing mail. She used this opportunity to steal checks while on the job. The press release about the USPS checks theft said "[Shannon] conspired with Gardner and Carter to steal incoming and outgoing checks from the U.S. mail, which Gardner and Carter then sold to other individuals, including using the Telegram channel OG Glass House."

Millions Of Dollars Of USPS Checks Sold For 100s Of Thousands

Using a Telegram selling chat, the women managed to fence the stolen goods. Actually processing the checks isn't something the women had to do. They simply had to steal them and sell them below their value. It was up to whoever bought them to launder them.

The plan they played out managed to land the women hundreds of thousands of dollars. The press release states, "The defendants obtained hundreds of thousands of dollars in criminal proceeds of the mail theft scheme."

They managed to get away with millions of dollars of stolen USPS checks before getting caught and arrested. The report states that the total "includes over $12 million in stolen checks that were posted for sale on the Telegram channel OG Glass House and more than $8 million in stolen U.S. Treasury checks."

With a hustle like this, it is always hard to keep it quiet. How the women gave their USPS checks game away isn't clear. However, it is usually because someone can't keep their mouth closed, or starts overspending.

Now, the women have been ordered to pay restitution of $113,333.87 jointly and separately. This will go alongside their prison sentences.
