Dolly Parton sadly passed away on Tuesday, August 25. However, she's left one final gift for her loving fanbase: a new, never-before-heard song. The only catch is that we'll need to wait another 20 years before we get to hear it. It will be released on Parton's 100th birthday.

The track is being kept in a locked box at Dollywood's DreamMore Resort, which is based in Tennessee. The song, titled "My Place In History," was written and recorded in 2015. Parton wrote about the song her in book "Dolly Parton, Songteller: My Life In Lyrics."
"I don't know if I want to live to be 100 or not. But you never know," she wrote. "I might, and if I do, I'm going to be at that opening. There's no telling what music is going to be by then. Hopefully, it will play and the whole thing ain't rotted."
Fans will undoubtedly hope the song eventually makes its way out into the world. It will be an opportunity to enjoy the country stars' music for the first time, one last time. Of course, in order for that to happen, those in control of the song will need to resist the temptation to put it out any sooner.
Dolly Parton Died After a Brief Battle With Cancer
Shortly after the news of Parton's death became public, her representatives provided a statement to PEOPLE.
"Our beloved Dolly Parton spent her life and career bringing joy, laughter, hope and integrity into everything she touched," the statement said. "After bravely facing a brief battle with cancer, Dolly departed her Earthly life today at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center surrounded by loved ones."
The statement then continued by praising all of the charitable work Parton had done throughout her life.
"Whether it be the hundreds of millions of books donated through her invaluable Imagination Library or funding research that helped create a lifesaving vaccine used around the world, Dolly's unconditional love for all people was the guiding force for her lasting impact."
Parton's death has undoubtedly hit the country music scene hard. Furthermore, her countless fans around the globe will likely be mourning her passing for the foreseeable future. Still, the knowledge that we will get one more song from Parton, albeit in the distant future, at least gives us all something to look forward to.
