University of Utah Issues Public Apology to Pat McAfee After He Vows Never to Return Following 'College GameDay' Visit

Pat McAfee took a shot at the University of Utah following the incident, saying, "I'll hopefully never go to that place".

Everyone has one of those days sometimes. But when you're an ESPN veteran, you have a little more sway than the average office worker - so you can do something about it.

We all know College GameDay by now - Pat McAfee hosts cutting edge coverage of all the most important days. Per Whiskey Riff, he's now got a pretty sour relationship with the University of Utah - and he didn't even start it!

It all started with the University uploading a video asking students to do an impression of the host. And to say they weren't the kindest in the world is an understatement. One kid called him "corny", another practically begged him to keep his shirt on... not ideal.

The University of Utah actually ended up deleting the video after he commented on it with a side-eye emoji - not a good start, to say the least.

But then, in a shocking turn of events, things got even worse once he was actually there hosting the whole thing. You've heard of the "Kicking is Easy" challenge on College GameDay, right?

Well, students get the chance to kick a field goal for a pretty hefty prize - normally $1 million, but last week, one Spiderman dressed student broke the record by winning a whopping $3 million!

But this week's challenge had a student who wasn't exactly happy the money had gone down to its usual $1 million fare. The student, named Morgan, genuinely questioned why the prize was smaller... and she missed, too.

The University Apologized to Pat McAfee After 'College GameDay'

And the whole thing left Pat McAfee feeling frustrated - which is something he expressed at the end of his show. "Did not enjoy University of Utah..." He also questioned why the University put the video insulting him out in the first place... "I'll hopefully never go [back] to that place" he explained.

And so, the University issued an apology to him. "We missed the mark," they wrote. "University officials have reached out to Pat to express appreciation and regret. We sincerely apologize for creating any perception that Pat was unsafe or unwelcome on our campus. Nothing could be further from the truth."

Pretty crazy stuff, right?
