A United Airlines flight bound for New Jersey was forced to make an emergency landing in Nevada on Thursday after encountering an engine problem.

United Airlines Flight 1403 departed Los Angeles International Airport before diverting to Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas.
Authorities confirmed that the aircraft landed safely at around 7 a.m.
Plane Makes Emergency Landing After Engine Issue
The aircraft diverted to Las Vegas after experiencing an issue with one of its engines during the journey.
A United Airlines spokesperson confirmed that 176 passengers and seven crew members were aboard the flight at the time.
Everyone safely exited the aircraft in Las Vegas before waiting for another flight to continue their journey to Newark Liberty International Airport.
United has not revealed the exact nature of the engine problem that prompted the diversion.
Following the frightening incident, passengers took to social media to share their experiences.
"United Flight 1403 LA to NY... engine failure at 31,000 feet! Emergency landing at Las Vegas Airport. Terrifying!" one passenger wrote on X.
Second United Airlines Flight Diverts to London
The Las Vegas emergency landing comes just days after another United Airlines flight had to divert during a transatlantic journey.
Flight UA169 departed Venice Marco Polo Airport at 11:21 a.m. local time on Monday before encountering a technical issue mid-flight.
The aircraft was heading to Newark, New Jersey, but instead diverted to Heathrow Airport in London.
After flying across Austria, Germany and Belgium, the crew issued an alert reportedly related to a mechanical problem.
The aircraft, carrying 216 passengers, reportedly descended from around 30,000 feet to 17,000 feet.
The crew then dumped fuel ahead of the premature landing, a procedure that can help reduce an aircraft's weight before touching down.
"United flight 169 from Venice to Newark diverted to London Heathrow to address a mechanical issue," United Airlines said in a statement.
"The aircraft landed safely, and we are working to rebook customers on the next available flight to EWR."
Flight UA169 eventually landed safely at Heathrow's Terminal 2 around two-and-a-half hours after departing Venice.
