UFC President Dana White Sounds off on Major Televised Celebrity Blunder

UFC president Dana White ripped his production team for, once again, mislabeling a celebrity attendee on-screen during UFC 329.

Several viral moments stemmed from UFC 329 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The ever-outspoken fighter Conor McGregor blew out his knee in the main event, a former WWE star secured a knockout in his UFC debut, and Paddy Pimblett executed one of the most jaw-dropping submissions ever recorded.

Despite the theatrics in the octagon, UFC President Dana White was visibly ticked off by a production error that led to a massive televised blunder.

Typically, when celebrities attend pro sporting events, they are shown on the Jumbotron with a lower third identifying them. This has been a common trend at NBA, MLB, WWE, and UFC events, though the latter has struggled with correctly labeling the stars in attendance.

During the UFC 306 broadcast in September 2024, UFC confused boxing legend Terrence "Bud" Crawford for Grammy winner Kendrick Lamar while showcasing celebrities in attendance.

On Saturday, the UFC production team goofed again, this time mistaking WBO Super Lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson for NBA star Jalen Williams.

Dana White Slams Production Team For Televised Error

Following the pay-per-view event, Dana White ripped his staff for, yet again, mislabeling high-profile attendees. During his NSFW tirade, White pointed out the irony that the UFC can do something as complex as hosting a fight night at the White House while struggling to create the appropriate on-screen graphic.

"We just did the White House. We built a f****ng arena on the south lawn of the White House. And it was the greatest thing ever to be there live and to watch it on TV."

White then compared UFC to other sports that highlight celebrity attendees before calling the fighting promotion "the worst."

"We are the absolute worst to ever do this celebrity thing. I just had this debate with my guys in the back while I was screaming at everyone. They said, 'No, soccer's worse. Soccer shows the people, and they don't put up any graphics.' Oh, no, we put up f*****g graphics and put the wrong guy's name on it! We win. We're the worst. Ever!"
