Two YouTubers Arrested for Sneaking into World Cup Game

Two YouTubers have been arrested after being caught sneaking into a World Cup game, and could now face five years in jail.

In the world of content creation, it's commonplace to see people push the boundaries. Unfortunately for two YouTubers, their willingness to break the rules could land them five years of jail time. The duo allegedly snuck past multiple layers of security to get into the Colombia-Portugal World Cup game in Miami.

"Argentine content creators Beni Marmol, 20, and Pato Perrotta, 26, were among 16 people nabbed at Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, Saturday, during the final Group K bout," The New York Post reports.

The YouTube duo both boast hundreds of thousands of subscribers on the platform.

"Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office deputies said both Marmol, whose full name is Lautaro B. Marmol, and Perrotta, whose full name is Patricio Rafael Perrotta, "bypass(ed) three layers of security" using credentials of a past game and made it onto "stadium grounds," authorities told local station WPLG.

Both YouTubers now face felony charges of illegally interfering with a sporting event. That charge carries a sentence of up to five years behind bars.

Surely, if you're going to break the rules, it's worthwhile knowing what the maximum punishment is, should you get caught. No amount of content or subscribers can, or should, be worth risking five years of your life.

The Manager of One YouTuber Has Issued a Statement

Walter Costabel, the YouTuber's manager, has since released a statement when speaking with Argentinian outlet Todo Noticias.

"I have been with Mármol and Pato since yesterday," Costabel said. "We already paid bail, they will be released in a few hours. The cause is still not entirely clear. The judge just set bail and nothing more. All that is said are rumors about it."

Costabel's statement then continued by assuring both YouTubers are well and in good spirits.

"We were able to talk to them and they are fine. The charges have not yet been charged in detail. In any case, they are not deported, they just do not have to be near the stadiums where the World Cup matches are played. The crime charged is interference in sporting events."

Currently, there are no further details regarding the YouTubers cases or the charges they're facing. We will likely find out more as the situation progresses.
