Ellieana Mishoe, 2, from Aiken, was killed after falling from a UTV (Utility Task Vehicle). According to WBMF, the South Carolina Highway Patrol says the incident occurred at around 5:18 PM on Bayview Drive. Precise details aren't available, but the report states that Mishoe fell from the vehicle. She was "ultimately run over by it."
The report suggests that three other people were riding in the UTV at the time of the crash: two adults and one child. According to ABC15, Mishoe fell from the passenger seat of the side-by-side Can-Am Utility Vehicle. These UTVs are designed for off-road use, with seats set next to each other within a protective roll cage.
The Father Posted An Emotional Message Following The UTV Accident
A reporter at ABC15 contacted Trooper Brandon J Bolt for more details on the incident and to clarify the laws that govern utility vehicles. Bolt told the outlet that "he did not want to comment, to give the family time to grieve, and that the investigation was still ongoing."
The reporter also interviewed several people in the area, including Charles Fackhouse. He explained that he takes vehicle safety very seriously with his granddaughter because he knows accidents can happen.
According to the Daily Mail, Ellieana's father posted a tribute to his daughter on Social Media, which reads:
'This world is tough and mean. Please hold your babies and family tight. My beautiful PUNKIN left this world yesterday afternoon to go be with Jesus.'
'Ellieana was one of God's angels sent from heaven, with the sweetest and most outgoing personality of anyone I have ever known. She loved with her whole heart and lived life to the fullest. The world was her canvas, and she painted it in rainbows every day of her precious life.'
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the incident. According to South Carolina Law, children must be at least eight years old to be passengers in a registered UTV while it's operated on a road.
