Two ‘Nashville’ Stars Won’t Be Making the Move To CMT

It looks like season five of Nashville will feature a slightly smaller cast of characters.

For fans of the country music-themed drama, the past few months have been quite the emotional roller coaster. From hearing that the show was ending after four seasons, to learning it had negotiated a network switch from ABC to CMT, those who have tuned in loyally on Wednesday nights over the last few years have gone through the wringer. Unfortunately, today brings those fans a bit more bad news regarding their favorite series.

As of this morning, news emerged that when the fifth season of the television show begins, two of its beloved characters will not be making the transition to the new network with the rest of the cast. According to TVLine, Audrey Peeples (Layla Grant) and Will Chase (Luke Wheeler) will no longer be appearing on the show. It may not come as a complete shock to fans that these two would depart from the series, as their storylines were tied up well during the season four finale. The remaining cast members are expected to continue their roles on CMT.

Season five will be directed by Ed Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz, both of whom are new additions to the Nashville family. The season five premiere date has not yet been announced.
