The FBI claimed that the two girls were planning to place pipe bombs around the school. Then, as the bombs caused mass panic, they would open fire on their fellow students. The two girls were arrested within 30 minutes of making the plan online.
The location of the attack was intended to be Houston's Memorial High School. Here, the two girls had allegedly plotted to commit the violent act on both students and teachers. The girls planning to bomb their school were only 16 and 15 years old.
The first girl, charged with the terrorist threat, was handcuffed in the corridor of her school. She is 16 years old and attended the high school. The other, a 15-year-old, has been arrested but is being held on separate charges. She was a student at a separate high school.
Students Bomb Plan Foiled By FBI
The Houston FBI released their successful arrest of the two teens on their X account. Their post claims that the two girls "were plotting a mass casualty attack" to bomb their school.
Since then, the local sheriff's office released a statement to families in the local area. "We understand the concerns this situation may cause for students, parents, and faculty, and we are taking every necessary precaution. Additional security measures have been implemented, and we continue to work closely with school officials and our law enforcement partners to ensure a safe environment."
To arrest children on a suspected terrorist attack is a very strong accusation. Children make stupid jokes, often not understanding their gravity. However, on the flip side, there are a phenomenal amount of terrorist attacks carried out by children and teens in schools.
To swoop in and snatch these two girls up on suspicion of a bomb in their school is a drastic one. But so is making a bomb threat. You can't be too careful. We'll continue to update you with more information as it becomes available.
