TV Traffic Reporter Barely Stifles Profane Outburst When Crash Happens During His Live Segment

Doing the news on TV can be challenging. There is no handy script to rely upon. Additionally, news anchors have to keep their emotions buttoned up. No matter how they feel, or how justified their gut reactions are, they have to keep it quiet. Which brings us to what happened to KJ Jacobs. He is "the traffic anchor and meteorologist at Cincinnati's WCPO," per the New York Post. Jacobs recently found himself in a very human predicament when a car crash took place while he was live on the air.

Jacobs Nearly Used a Naughty Word

While KJ Jacobs was doing his live traffic segment on August 6, there was a nasty crash. Things had been going routinely before that. Jacobs noted to viewers right beforehand, per People, "I am watching this car right here. This is I-71 at Gilbert Avenue right by the station, so northbound. This car is in the center lane, traffic is slowing down on both sides around this car as well as that on ramp."

Then, bam, one vehicle rear-ended the other. Understandably, Jacobs was caught very off-guard - but he sure wasn't off the air! Because of the collision that just occurred, Jacobs suddenly blurted out, "Oh sh__!" Realizing his faux pas, Jacobs clapped his hand to his mouth as if to muscle that bad word back in there.

"I'm So Sorry"

He was sincerely apologetic. (Maybe I should say apoplectic!) Jacobs did some quick clean-up, saying to viewers per People, "I'm so sorry...Literally just watched a crash happen in real time and I almost said something inappropriate. You can see this car just smash right into this car in real time. That car was in the center lane with those hazards on. I was watching it closely."

He Posted the Gaffe on Social Media

It certainly attracted plenty of attention. As of August 7, it got 9.8 million views.

People seemed to be having fun with Jacobs' miscue. One wrote, "Hit a car parked with the flashers on, who in the world was driving lol"

Another could not resist the obvious: ""oh sh__"

A third offered this comment. "at least they signaled before they crossed a solid line to make an illegal merge onto the shoulder without looking in front of them"
