Christopher Meloni recently reacted to the cancellation of his show Law & Order: Organized Crime. While fans of the franchise are hopeful that Elliot Stabler will make the jump to SVU for some long-teased romance, it's also just as likely that we're saying goodbye to the character.

Melonie implied as much on the Instagram video. He said he wanted to thank fans for their support.

"Hey everyone, I just saw that they announced OC, Organized Crime won't be coming back," Meloni said. "So I wanted to take this moment to say thank you to the fans, who not only helped give the character of Elliot Stabler life and longevity, but for sticking with him and welcoming him back."

But he also seemed to imply that the road may be over for Stabler after this.

"Good ride," he added, as his eyes appeared to well up. "It was a good ride, I had a great time playing him. It was a great ride, but thank you. You helped give me a career that I never dreamed of. Nearly 17 odd years."

If this is indeed the end then it's certainly a sad one. But perhaps, the actor will turn up on  Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and finally get with Benson. Who knows what the future holds?

Meloni said he wasn't tired of playing the character for sure.

"It is a place I know very well, and yet I'm not tired of doing. It's good storytelling with people that I like to work with. When they asked me to do OC, I'd never had this feeling. It was a little bit like going home," he said.

But if this is the end, then it's not the first time we had to say goodbye to the crime drama character. Stabler left Law & Order: SVU after 12 seasons on the show. He only more recently returned to the franchise after almost a decade away.
