Police accuse Brady Ebert, 33, of deliberately striking the band's lead singer's father with a car.
Authorities arrested him on Wednesday, and he now faces charges of attempted second-degree murder and first-degree assault.
He is currently being held without bond.
Turnstile Arrested Guitarist Accused of Violent Attack
Ebert was a founding member of the Baltimore hardcore group Turnstile. He joined the band in 2010 and left in 2022.
In a statement released on Thursday, the band addressed the situation and their decision to distance themselves from their former guitarist.
They said they had "cut ties" with Ebert "in response to a consistent pattern of harmful behavior affecting himself, the band, and the community."
"After exhausting every available resource to support his access to help and recovery, a boundary ultimately had to be set when healthy communication was no longer possible, and he began threatening violence," the statement adds.
According to the band, Ebert has continued what they described as "baseless tirades" since his departure. His behavior allegedly escalated in recent months.
Police allege that Ebert went to the home of William Yates, 79, the father of Turnstile frontman Brendan Yates, where he shouted obscenities.
Investigators claim he later returned and intentionally struck Yates with his car in the driveway.
Victim Hospitalized as Investigation Unfolds
Montgomery County Police officers responded to the scene and found Yates in the front yard with "trauma to his lower extremities."
In their statement, the band confirmed that Yates has "successfully undergone surgery" and expressed hope for the "best possible outcome in his recovery."
Yates had reportedly contacted police in the past regarding Ebert's behavior. This included allegations of him yelling obscenities and driving aggressively toward him in the neighborhood.
In a prior incident, Yates said the vehicle narrowly missed him. Ebert then allegedly made a gesture as he drove off.
Following the alleged attack, Yates told officers that Ebert had been "causing issues" for the family since his exit from the band. He pointed to a series of troubling encounters.
While waiting for emergency responders after the incident, Yates claimed Ebert returned to the scene and shouted that he "deserved it."
"We have no language left for Brady," the band also said towards the end of their statement.
