Trump's New White House Press Secretary Reportedly Fired After Less Than a Week On The Job

Well, that didn't take very long. It appears that the new White House Press Secretary, Katie Zacharia, is out of the job. Day removed her from officially starting the position. A source familiar with the situation told the New York Times.

Press Secretary Zacharia Reported Axed After Days on The Job

It was a rough couple of days on the job for Zacharia. She butchered her inaugural press conference on her first day. That incident led to widespread backlash from American Citizens. When speaking to the media on Friday (October 16), Trump said he spoke candidly with his new Press Secretary. He asked her to "reconsider" the position that she agreed to take on.

"Honestly, if I were you, I'd reconsider," Trump said he told Zacharia on Friday morning (via CNN). Trump also said that he asked Zacharia if the position was something that she needed and also added that the job is maybe "not for her."

"She's been treated, I would say, pretty nastily," Trump said. "And I said to Katie just two minutes ago, I said, 'Katie, you know, you don't have to do this if you don't want.'"

Trump also said that the media's treatment of the Press Secretary has not made her job any easier. He accused the media of treating her "very badly."

"You know, she's been treated very rough. And she's a nice person," he added.

Social media unloaded with reactions following Trump's comments.

"Each time a Trump worker gets fired, a Hooters gains a shift supervisor," one person wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"I speak for everyone when I say we are absolutely positively shocked and stunned," a second user chimed in.

"She ain't even make it long enough to find the breakroom! She ain't even get all of her computer logins! Katie ain't unpack one box or take out one family photo!

It should be noted that Trump has not said that Zacharia has officially been axed from the position. So as for her future in the role, Trump said that he would ultimately "let her make that decision."
