McHenry Forced to Resign After Viral Altercation
A source close to the outlet said that McHenry had recently earned a promotion within the department. She was named as the person to spearhead External Affairs and Press under Secretary Jacob Helberg's staff on Wednesday (October 21). But she has since been relieved of her duties.
So a source close to the situation told the outlet: "She was forced to resign [over the incident]. She was promoted and fired within 24 hours."
So naturally there was an outpouring of reactions to the news from users on social media.
"I thought acting petty and childish was a job requirement in the Trump Administration," one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"You can't even sit courtside at a Wizards game and throw drinks on people? I thought this was America!" a second user sarcastically remarked.
"Between this now and the nasty incident she was involved in in 2015. No one should ever hire her again," a third user chimed in.
McHenry Allegedly Came to Defense of Wizards' Star's Girlfriend
For those who may be tardy to the party, McHenry was allegedly ejected from the Wizards' home opener at Capital One Arena on Wednesday night (October 21). A woman who appeared to be McHenry was engaged in a back-and-forth with a fan at Capital One Arena during their matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks. Video footage showed the former ESPN employee chucking a drink at a fan. Then, she was escorted out by arena security.
A source close to the situation told Page Six that the altercation occurred after a fan in the arena made a "terrible" comment about model Winnie Harlow, who is currently dating Bucks forward Kyle Kuzma.
"They were saying he plays terribly because his girlfriend's ugly," the source said.
The source added that McHenry told the fans to "ease up," which allegedly led to them being aggressive. The source says that the unruly fans threw the drink at her first and that the moment caught on video was her retaliating.
At the time of writing, Britt McHenry has not responded to the report
