What would you do with $5,000?
Well, start to think about it - as long as Trump keeps this promise (and the Republicans win the midterms!)
That's because Trump has promised a brand new "Trump dividend" - which would give every adult American $5,000. He announced it during the Republican midterm convention, which was started to drum up support for the GOP.
Trump's Rapid Response 47 X account also posted a video proclaiming the dividend. In the video clip, Trump says, "What we're doing is because we've done so well and because our country is making so much money that only I can make this promise to you."
"And here is my promise. If the Republicans win the House of Representatives and the United States Senate, both of them, because of our economic tremendous economic success, like in history we've never had anything like what's happening."
"But because of our tremendous strength and success economically, I will issue a dividend to every adult citizen in the United States of America for $5,000." This statement was met with thunderous applause and cheers from the crowd.

Economists Aren't Convinced the "Trump Dividend" Will Work
Of course, this has come with a lot of scrutiny and criticism from economists. Think about it - 245 million American adults, $5,000 each... that's a whopping $1,250,000,000,000!
Per CBS News, the Tax Foundation's Center for Federal Tax Policy isn't convinced this would work. According to their senior economist, Erica York, this whole thing could spell trouble.
"If financial markets are already concerned about U.S. budget deficits, which are historically large and projected to grow, and the message that you're giving is, 'We don't really care. We're almost going to double our deficits,' - that's madness," she explained.
She added that this could also drive inflation. Remember the stimulus checks back in 2020? Those drove inflation pretty badly - a lot of people had a lot of money to spend all at once. This could be a repeat.
In any case, whether this money is dished out or not - this is a crazy thing to be pledging, for better or for worse.
