LeBron James dominated the news cycle on Friday, July 25, as he signed a two-year contract to play with the Philadelphia 76ers. The deal could see LeBron remain in the NBA until he turns 43. Following the news, President Donald Trump was asked whether he believes LeBron or Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time.

Trump's response caused a stir of its own, as he questioned whether LeBron is a racist due to his not being a fan of his presidency.
"Well, Michael Jordan is a guy that's a friend of mine, played golf with him," Trump said. "He's a really good guy, and I think LeBron is... Maybe he's a racist, but maybe he doesn't like Trump. I don't know, but I only like people that like me. So I would say Michael Jordan all the way."
The clip, which was posted to X, has been viewed over 7 million times. LeBron hasn't responded to Trump's comments, and isn't likely to get into a back-and-forth with the President.

President Trump recently attended game three of the New York Knicks NBA Finals series against the San Antonio Spurs. During the game, Trump was booed by a sizeable portion of the crowd within Madison Square Garden.
When speaking with the media regarding his experience at Madison Square Garden, Trump noted that the NBA is "great entertainment" while also sharing his belief that the league itself is "a little left-wing."
"Well, it's a little left-wing," Trump said, via The Hill. "Yeah, I think so. It tends to be a little left-wing, but it's great entertainment. It's great...I mean, I thought it was amazing, actually," Trump said of his reception within MSG. "You mean when they had the camera on me? I thought it was very good. Yeah. It was certainly amazing. I think, mostly cheers. It was loud, and it was very enthusiastic."
The President is an avid sports fan and has attended huge games across multiple sports, including the NBA and NFL.
However, his comments about LeBron James will undoubtedly create a talking point in the coming days. Still, the one thing Trump got right is that Jordan is indeed the GOAT. That's a fact that won't change.
