White, 57, recently helped organize UFC Freedom 250, the first-ever organized fight night on White House grounds.

Now, he is being recruited to take a role in the nation's capital.

"I am pleased to announce that the Great Dana White, a violent Fighter and Warrior, has been offered the job of Press Secretary of the United States," Trump wrote on social media. "I have requested that he bring with him assistants.

Trump named Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje and Daniel Cormier as potential UFC alumni who could be hired as security detail, but did not specify whether he was joking.

Trump spoke of White's potential qualifications, writing, "Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job!"

Dana White and Donald Trump Have Close Ties

Trump became the first sitting president to attend a UFC live event in 2019 and attended several more before he took office.

Trump hosted UFC Freedom 250 on June 14 on the White House south lawn. With the White House as its backdrop, UFC Freedom 250 included two title fights.

Although UFC said it reached an estimated 34 million people globally, Dana White told ESPN that he would "never" do it again.

"I can't afford it," White said. "I'll never do the Sphere again, and we'll never do this again."

Before the event, White noted that the White House-based fight night cost $60 million to produce.

Sports Business Journal reported that 60,000 people attended the UFC Freedom 250 ceremonial weigh-ins. Almost 200,000 attended the two-day weekend. White said the promotion hit record merchandise sales during UFC Freedom 250, doubling any previous mark.

It is unclear whether White plans to accept the press sanctuary position, which would be a steep pay cut from his current role with UFC.

White and two business associates purchased UFC under the parent company Zuffa for $2 million in January 2001.

Forbes valued UFC at $11.3 billion in 2024, making it the world's most valuable combat sports promotion at the time.
