According to a report by the Daily Mail, a trucker narrowly escaped a tragedy after the large metal beams he was carrying smashed into the driver's cab.

The driver was reportedly driving down East Dixit Drive in Asheboro, transporting the large steel beams. Per Fox 8, the truck driver slammed on the brakes. The sudden stop snapped the straps holding the beams in place, throwing them forward and through the cab's rear wall.

The minds of any horror fans will immediately think of Final Destination 2 from 2003. The intro to the movie shows a horrific traffic accident on a busy road, and the most famous part of the scene is when tree trunks break free from the back of a trailer, causing carnage on the highway.

Despite the severity of the incident, police say the driver is "alive and well," although Fox 8 says many witnesses believed the incident was a tragedy. Byron Clegg, a witness, said, "I was just hoping the driver was okay, man; it looked like something out of a movie."

Even the Battalion Chief of the Asheboro Fire Station, Brian Hussey, feared the worst. "When I saw the metal beams, I expected him to be hurt pretty bad," he said.

The Metal Beams Narrowly Missed The Truck Driver's Head

Hussey told Fox 8, "The driver was pretty lucky because the metal beams were probably 16 to 18 inches from his head. So he was very lucky." He also said that the driver thanked God for his narrow escape, "He said he thanked God and said he prayed every single day, and he said it worked today, for sure."

Authorities have not revealed the truck driver's identity and are investigating the incident.

Another trucker narrowly escaped tragedy in North Pennsylvania in February, saying, "I had an angel with me." Josh Keating, a truck driver, was on his way to work when a large chunk of ice flew off the top of another truck on the other side of the road. The debris hit Keating's truck with enough force to shatter his windshield, covering him with shards of broken glass, snow, and ice.

Keating was miraculously okay and pulled over to the side of the road. He escaped the ordeal with minor cuts and bruises.
