The incident occurred in Antalya's Kepez district on Monday, October 26, when powerful winds struck the site and destroyed a container housing several workers.
Local news outlets shared footage of the aftermath, showing twisted metal and debris scattered across the construction site as emergency crews assessed the damage.
Deadly Tornado Kills Four Construction Workers in Turkey
Antalya Governor Hulusi Sahin confirmed that the tornado also toppled a crane at the construction site.
Two workers died at the scene, while emergency responders transported two others to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
One of the hospitalized workers later died from their injuries, according to initial reports.
Sahin confirmed that three of the deceased workers were Syrian nationals, while the fourth was Turkish.
A fifth worker, who was inside another container when the tornado struck, also sustained injuries.
However, officials said the worker was in good condition and expected to recover.
"We are facing a very unusual natural phenomenon because there have been no reports of storms or tornadoes anywhere else in the city," Sahin said.
Severe Weather Causes Widespread Disruption Across Europe
Sahin confirmed that the tornado did not cause damage elsewhere in Antalya's Kepez district or the wider city.
The Turkish State Meteorological Service (MGM) had previously issued warnings about heavy rainfall and the possibility of tornadoes ahead of Monday's severe weather.
The tragedy occurred just two weeks before Antalya was scheduled to host the United Nations' climate summit from November 9 to November 20.
Meanwhile, other parts of Europe have experienced deadly weather conditions, with Storm Austen and Storm Boelo bringing powerful winds and heavy rain to the United Kingdom.
On Monday, October 26, a woman in her 50s died after a powerful wave swept her into the sea while she was walking her dog on the Isle of Wight.
The woman was reportedly walking along a promenade between Sandown and Shanklin when the wave struck.
Emergency services launched a rescue operation before recovering her body from the English Channel later that day.
Another storm-related tragedy occurred in Scotland, where Richard Baines, 60, the curator of Logan Botanic Garden, died after a falling tree struck him near Castle Douglas.
Baines was walking near his home in Mid Kelton on Sunday, October 25, when the accident occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m.
Emergency responders attended the scene but pronounced him dead shortly afterward.
