Tim McGraw will once again trade in the stage for the big screen with a starring role in a major motion picture.

According to, McGraw will be featured in Stuart Hazeldine's upcoming film, The Shack, which will also star Octavia Spencer and Sam Worthington. The movie is based on a best-selling. faith-based novel released in 2007 by William Paul Young.

"We have a great cast and a great crew bringing The Shack to life after many years of development," Hazeldine writes. "Excited to finally start shooting tomorrow."

The film follows the story of a girl who is abducted during a family vacation. Although most assume she has been murdered, a mysterious note appears that turns everything upside down.

McGraw has been filming scenes for The Shack in between dates of his current tour and recording sessions for his next record. "I'm flying in between shows, going up to Vancouver, shooting a movie," McGraw told Taste of Country in a recent interview. "It's kind of a foot race to see which one gets done first, [the album or movie]."

There is currently no release date set for The Shack. Tim McGraw is in the middle of his massive 2015 Shotgun Rider Tour, which will continue through September. A full list of tour dates is available at his official website.
