TikToker Goes On First Date In A Year Without Kids, Gets in Serious Car Accident

After a year of taking care of their kids, Natalya and Andrew Batchman finally had the chance to have a night off. They scheduled a romantic night dinner, which they both enjoyed. However, when they were driving to pick up their kids, they suffered a serious car accident that ended up with them in a ditch.

"One minute you're on a date with your husband without the kids and the next you're crawling out the sunroof from a car accident," Natalya Batchman wrote in a video she shared in TikTok. The video, of course, quickly became viral.

In an interview with PEOPLE, both Natalya and Andrew talked about their lovely dinner and their subsequent accident.

"We were having a great time with each other," Andrew Batchman told the outlet. "When it came down to dessert time, we were like, 'Okay, this is the longest we've been away from the baby.' When we called my parents, they said our youngest had been crying and was ready to be picked up."

And while their night out was over, they were probably excited to see their children again. As a parent, it is often the case that, during these sorts of dates, one can only talk about their kids. So, when Andrew and Natalya were heading toward Andrew's parents' house, an icy turn caught Andrew off guard. The car slid into a ditch.

"There's a ditch with a 10-foot drop pond to the left of us and then to the right is the ditch," Natalya explained. Thankfully for both of them and their kids, they ended up sliding into the latter ditch. Both of them felt the "abrupt stop" following the accident, as both of their airbags were deployed.

They were both initially trapped. However, Andrew managed to escape through the sunroof, leading to both of them getting out of the car. Natalya suffered facial injuries due to the airbag impact, and Andrew had some scrapes on his arm. Natalya, out of maternal instinct, began running toward her in-laws, looking for her kids.

Given that they both survived the accident, they have now another perspective on how they live their lives. "It just made me realize how out-of-control I am and how in control God is," Andrew said. "I need to make sure that every day I'm talking to God." Similarly, Natalya also talked about her relationship with God and their mission in life.

"It did show me just how God isn't done with us yet ... There's another day that we've been given. There's another mission that we have," Natalya said.
