Brooke Eby Raised Awareness of the Disease

As reported by PEOPLE, Eby was diagnosed with ALS in 2022. According to the Mayo Clinic, the disease affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. This can lead to muscle weakness that affects the muscles needed to move, speak, eat, or breathe.

Using the handle @limpbroozkit, Eby began posting videos about life with the disease. She approached the subject with humor while raising awareness.

"Everyone was a lot more comfortable with my situation when I was laughing, and that came back around to make me feel more comfortable too," Eby wrote in 2025.

Last year, Eby shared that her breathing capacity had declined significantly. Despite being "past the point" that most surgeons would operate on her, she had a feeding tube installed in her stomach.

Then, in January 2026, she told followers she began experiencing bulbar symptoms, which can affect how a person speaks and swallows. Last month, she said people couldn't "understand" her "at all."

Eby Was Known as an "Extraordinary Advocate, Storyteller"

The non-profit ALS Network announced the news of Eby's death on Thursday, Oct. 1. It described her as an "extraordinary advocate, storyteller, community builder, and friend."

"We are heartbroken by her passing and profoundly grateful that we had the privilege of knowing her, working alongside her, and celebrating her. Brooke's impact will live on in every person she reached and throughout the community she created."

Marc Benioff, the CEO of Salesforce, also posted a tribute to Eby on X. She had worked for the company for 10 years.

"I am just devastated to hear of the passing of Brooke Eby," he wrote. "Brooke was an amazing warrior with an attitude so positive it could melt a glacier. All of my thoughts are with her Ohana at this time. May the One who brings Peace bring Peace to All."
