The incident happened on Jupiter Island in Florida. Diring the press conference, Martin County Sheriff John M. Budensiek said that Woods was traveling down a two-lane road with a 30 m.p.h. speed limit.
How the Accident Reportedly Took Place
Per Golfweek, Woods was driving a Land Rover and going "at a high rate of speed." Exactly how fast he was going is unclear. He was allegedly attempting to pass a truck. That truck was pulling a trailer. Woods clipped the rear of the trailer, according to Sheriff Budensiek. Woods' vehicle then evidently rolled over and ended up resting on the driver's side. Per the outlet, "Woods crawled out of the vehicle and showed signs of impairment."
Woods is apparently unharmed and was traveling by himself, according to the Martin County Sheriff's Office. No medications or drugs were found in his Land Rover. The sheriff stated that he was apparently "lethargic."
Roadside Tests Administered to Woods Allegedly Indicated His Impairment
Golfweek states that DUI investigators performed roadside tests on Tiger Woods. They thus "determined that he was impaired" and he was arrested and brought to the county jail. A breathalyzer reportedly showed no alcohol involvement. The sheriff said it registered triple zeroes. However, Tiger Woods allegedly declined to take a urine test.
He Has Had Previous Motor Vehicle Accidents
Woods very badly hurt his leg in another car crash that took place in 2021. That one happened in Southern California. At the time, authorities noted that "The SUV he was driving, a 2021 Genesis GV80, was found several feet away from the center divider...." Woods was not found to be impaired in any way.
In yet another driving incident, this one in 2017 also in Jupiter, Florida, Tiger Woods was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence...." He was allegedly asleep at the time.
