Leaf blowers have to be one of the single most American things ever. Imagine drinking a cold beer in between rounds of blowing leaves off your lawn. But that apparently isn't as widely held a belief as you'd expect.
As reported by Whiskey Riff, the same Massachusetts town that kicked off the American Revolution, just banned gas-powered leaf blowers. Lexington is very well known for being the site of the first battle of the American Revolution in 1775.
The site may as well be renamed the "home of freedom", given the result. While we aren't quite sure who fired the first shot on that fateful day, one thing is clear—it mobilized the colonists to act.
But now, it looks like they're working on things that are a little less... world-changing. In 2021, they passed an ordinance on "Reducing Noise From Landscape Maintenance Equipment". The law does what it says on the tin, limiting the hours that people could use their leaf blowers.
But it also did another, less obvious thing. It limited residents' right to bear gas-powered leaf blowers, so to speak. The ordinance gradually phased out the gas-guzzling leaf blowers over a few years. And, as of March 15, 2026, they have been officially banned.

The Ordinance Has Led to Residents Considering Boston Leaf Blower Party Protests
The ordinance read as follows. "Effective March 15, 2026, the use of all gas-powered leaf blowers by residents on their own property in the Town of Lexington shall be prohibited."
And it looks like the residents aren't happy. Some have even come up with their own "Boston Tea Party" styled protests, per the outlet.
"We should go throw all the electric lawn tools in the harbor," one wrote. Another wrote, "I'll be adding a Bluetooth speaker to my electric leaf blower that will emit the sound of 2 gas leaf blowers."
Others were quick to note that the Founding Fathers wouldn't exactly be pleased at the whole thing. "Sam Adams would be throwing hands by now." Not wrong, to be honest.
While leaf blowers are definitely loud, we think that perhaps people should be given the right to bear arms against the tyrannical leaves quartering themselves in patriots' lawns.
