Nicholas Sparks' popular novel and movie The Notebook has become one of the most adored love stories around. Now, one Oklahoma couple have become a viral sensation, thanks to their anniversary photos inspired by the story.
Clemma and Sterling Elmore have been happily married for 57 years. The couple's granddaughter decided to plan a special anniversary photo shoot for the lovebirds, themed around The Notebook. The photos, Stacy Welch-Christ for Mary Evelyn Photography, have now been shared thousands of times through social media.
"I am a very loving person and I love to love on and hug people. When I met Sterling, he was like that and we knew we loved each other immediately," Clemma Elmore told WTMV. "Sterling is the sweetest loving person I've ever met. We tell each other that we love each other at least 10 times a day and that is what I wanted. He said that when he saw me, he knew that I was the one."
One of the notes featured in the photo shoot is a simple but incredibly heartfelt letter from Sterling to Clemma.
"You are my life and my true love," the letter reads. "Love you always and forever. Clemma, you are God's gift to me and I love you. Sterling Elmore."
So what's the secret to Clemma and Sterling's incredible love story? Patience.
"You have to work at marriage and show love," Clemma says. "Marriage is an inspiration if you treat it right."
