Much of that has to do with the 1977 album RumoursFeaturing hits like "The Chain" and "Don't Stop," it won the Grammy for Album of the Year in 1978 and has sold over 40 million copies worldwide.

But recently, another song from the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers' massive catalog has experienced renewed popularity. "Landslide," the ballad from its 1975 self-titled album, entered the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time ever this year.

Why? The song was featured in the finale of the hit Netflix show Stranger Things. Recently, the track reached another milestone. We have the details below.

"Landslide" Joins an Exclusive Club

Fleetwood Mac shared on its social media account that "Landslide" reached a milestone more than five decades after the song made its debut.

"Thank you for 1 BILLION streams of 'Landslide' on Spotify!" the caption on the post read.

There are now over 1,000 songs that have joined Spotify's Billionaire's Club. According to Forbes, those songs include Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You" and "Blinding Lights" by The Weeknd.

Kelly Clarkson is a member thanks to the timelessness of her song "Since U Been Gone." And much like "Landslide," Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill" joined the club thanks to its inclusion in Stranger Things

"Landslide" is the fourth song from Fleetwood Mac to reach a billion streams on Spotify. It joins "Dreams," "The Chain," and "Everywhere."

What Is the Story Behind "Landslide" by Fleetwood Mac?

"Landslide" also experienced a resurgence in the 1990s, when the band performed it on its live album, The Dance. It has also been covered by everyone from The Smashing Pumpkins to The Chicks.

According to PEOPLE, Stevie Nicks said she wrote the song in 1973 in Aspen, Colorado, during a time of personal and professional turmoil. She and Lindsey Buckingham were dropped by their label after the duo's debut album, Buckingham Nicks, failed to sell. She also knew that her romantic relationship with the guitarist was beginning to erode.

While looking out at the snowy Colorado mountains, she wrote the line, "And I saw my reflection in the snow-covered hills / Til the landslide brought me down." The rest came in five minutes.

The song reflected her uncertainty about the future. Then, three months later, she and Buckingham were asked to join Fleetwood Mac. The rest is history.
