Wyoming Tunnel Crash Killed Three Victims
The Wyoming Department of Transportation released a statement on February 16 with an update on this terrible crash. Around 26 vehicles collided on I-80 at milepost 90.2 which then caused a fire to erupt in the middle of the 1,200 ft. tunnel.
Through this statement, they confirmed a third death as they continued to investigate the crash's aftermath. According to the Associated Press, the incident also resulted in five serious injuries of unidentified victims.

By Sunday, the rescue team managed to clear half the vehicles involved in the tunnel fire. This included 10 passenger vehicles and 16 commercial ones. The fire destroyed eight vehicles in total, six were commercial and two were passenger.
A day later on Monday, February 17, the Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) concluded all on-scene evidence collection. They also were quite certain that there were three deaths involved and didn't expect to see any more fatalities.
Despite this step concluding, the most recent statement described the work as "far from over." Now the troopers will use this evidence to "digitally reconstruct the crash to determine narratives, causes and other details."

The destruction that this crash caused certainly will take a while to clean up. The WYDOT shared images on
Facebook of thick, black smoke billowing out of the tunnel after the collision. Then on Monday, they shared an additional photo on Facebook showing the ash from the fire covering vehicles in the tunnel."'Our hearts are heavy with the loss of these three individuals and we mourn with their loved ones,' said Col. Time Cameron. 'We ask that everyone respect the privacy of the families as they grieve. Details regarding the deceased will be shared when available.'"
In response to the tragedy, the post also urged drivers to take it slow when driving the detour through Green River. They mentioned increasing Trooper presence around the area to "ensure safe driving and slower speeds."
