A rare White Stripes single has sold for an astonishing $25,000 on Discogs, making it the platform's most valuable sale of 2026 so far.

Rather than a full-length album, the record was the band's 1998 single Lafayette Blues/Sugar Never Tasted So Good, one of the rarest releases in The White Stripes' catalog.
Its extraordinary value stems from several factors, including the fact that only 15 known copies are believed to exist.
The release also marked The White Stripes' second-ever single.
The White Stripes Single Sells for $25,000
The original single was released on October 3, 1998.
According to Discogs, 222 users have the title listed in their collections. The standard version has sold for as much as $525.
The $25,000 copy, however, is an exceptionally rare variant released by Detroit-based label Italy Records.
It features a hand-painted sleeve created by lead singer and guitarist Jack White alongside label owner Dave Buick.
The particular copy that sold was even more desirable because it included artwork painted by both White and Buick.
Discogs said the hand-painted singles originally sold for just $6 when they were released in 1998.

The $25,000 sale makes Lafayette Blues/Sugar Never Tasted So Good the most expensive record sold on Discogs in 2026.
It narrowly surpassed a 2006 Led Zeppelin box set, which sold for $24,000.
The third-highest sale of the year was a copy of Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon. This changed hands for $12,162.
Discogs said it was one of the first 300 copies of the iconic album ever pressed.
A 1978 copy of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody sold for $10,919. While two additional records sold for exactly $10,000 to round out the top five.
Those included a 1981 Danzig 7-inch reportedly acquired directly from Glenn Danzig and a 1966 copy of The Beatles' Yesterday and Today.
The White Stripes single also ranks among the most valuable sales in Discogs history.
According to the platform, the all-time record belongs to Choose Your Weapon by Scaramanga Silk, a 2008 release limited to just 20 copies, which sold for $27,500.
Prince's The Black Album also remains one of the platform's most sought-after releases, with two different copies selling for $25,000 and $20,000.
