"The Voice" coaches picked up their last few team members during the last night of the Blind Auditions Monday (Oct. 16), and when Texas singer Azán stepped onstage to audition, both Reba McEntire and John Legend wanted the chance to have her on their team.
Azán performed a soulful rendition of Jill Scott's "Golden," which had both coaches dancing in their seats. McEntire was the first to turn, but Legend made his move when Azán hit a high note. Legend called her version "full of positive energy" and touted his success with soul singers from Texas on the show. He then threw a bit of shade at his competitor, McEntire.
"There's a woman over here, she's from Oklahoma," he said. "Y'all don't really like Oklahomans, do y'all?"
"We're like cousins!" McEntire fired back.
While Legend gave his best pitch, it soon became clear that the other coaches weren't going to help his case. When Gwen Stefani spoke, she began singing the praises of a "newbie" and "girl power," giving a subtle preference for McEntire. Coach Niall Horan also tipped the scales towards the show's newest coach when talking to Azán.
"You're good either way you go, but I like The Queen too," he said.
A visibly frustrated Legend then accused the coaches of having some sort of "conspiracy" against him, and coach Niall Horan didn't hold back.
"We have our own text chain," he revealed.
When McEntire got the chance to share her pitch, she said she loved everything about Azán's performance, and she offered her years of experience to the singer if she chose her.
In the end, Azán chose to join Team Legend, but she gave her love to McEntire.
"The Voice" airs Monday and Tuesday nights on NBC.
