'The Voice' Host Carson Daly Named One of People's Sexiest Men Alive

"I’m equal parts appreciative & confused..."

The Voice and Today host Carson Daly made People's iconic Sexiest Man Alive issue for 2023 in the "Yes Chef" category. Daly is a known foodie and has a passion for cooking, and he used the moment to highlight his favorite recipe.

Daly says his love for food didn't come from his upbringing. In fact, he describes the food his parents made growing up as less-than-gourmet.

"I did not think about food when I was growing up really, especially as far as cooking because in the '80s, my mom would make pork chops and they were gray and they were a can of onion soup and it was awful," Daly tells the publication. "My dad would serve burgers that were still bleeding. The cooking was handled, but I was scarred by some of it."

It wasn't until he met his wife, Siri, that he began develop an interest for what goes on in the kitchen. He describes his wife as a "foodie" and says he was thrown off by how much she and her family enjoyed food when he first met her.

"When they're at breakfast, they talk about lunch. When they're at lunch they talk about dinner and I'm [like], 'You guys got to stop,'" Daly explains. "But, I got kind of sucked into it and now I really love it. It's at the epicenter of our family."

Daly used the opportunity to share his recipe for bone-in ribeye using the reverse sear method. The host says the method produces the "perfect steak every time." According to Daly's tutorial, he seasons the steak with salt, pepper and Snake River Farms steak seasoning. He then cooks it in the oven and sears it in a cast iron skillet to a temperature of 130 degrees.

The most important part of the process is letting it sit for about 10 minutes until it reaches a temp of 135. Carson warns viewers not to take that "chef's special bite" as it could potentially ruin the steak. After the steak reaches the desired internal temperature (a nice medium-rare), he cuts it and serves it on his cutting board.

"I make this probably too much," Daly says of the recipe. "[I] should probably not make it as much as we do, but we love it. Around the holidays, I'll make a big rib roast, which is a similar philosophy of cooking."

Daly reacted to his participating in the Sexiest Man Alive issue with equal parts humor and gratitude.

"I'm equal parts appreciative & confused how I made it in @people #SexiestManAlive issue but thank you!!" he wrote on Instagram. "Maybe they meant #SteakiestManAlive? ??? I'm honored!"
