‘The View’ Star Misses Show After Suffering Painful Backstage Injury

When Sunny Hostin explained what had happened at the start of the 'The View' episode, an audible gasp could be heard from the audience.

If you were watching Thursday's episode of The View, you might have noticed that there was a certain icon missing.

Joy Behar just... wasn't in the hotseat for the episode, per Page Six. Whilst she wasn't the only one, with Whoopi Goldberg also being absent, Behar's absence was a little more unexpected.

As Sunny Hostin put it at the start of the show, Whoopi's been out of The View for a little bit. "So, Whoopi is still out filming a movie." This was met with little reaction from the crowd - expectantly.

"And, unfortunately, our dear friend Joy dislocated her shoulder." That was something that the crowd certainly wasn't expecting, so an audible gasp was heard rippling round the room.

"Yeah, so she's recovering, and will be back soon," she assured. She then went on to joke about the moderator's seat - which would normally have been held by Behar since Goldberg wasn't on the show at the time.

As she was the "next oldest" - "Or, let's say seasoned... I like seasoned better," as she put it - she joked she should be the moderator instead.

A guest host did join to fill in the evident gap. Sherri Shepherd joined the group to make sure things ran smoothly.

'The View' Star's Rep Released a Statement About What Happened

A rep for The View star explained exactly what happened. "Joy caught a heel backstage," they explained.

"...But [she] is on the mend and should be back on the show mid next week." The rep was quick to reassure fans that Behar's "shoulder wasn't broken, and is back in place". The rep added, "she is excited to be back at the table as quickly as possible".

This isn't the first time The View star has been absent from filming. It was in June when she was last absent - but that time, things were a little more planned.

She had been putting her play on in London, England. She joked once she was back in the hotseat that "My First Ex-Husband" was "a great experience," joking, "turns out women all over the world hate their husbands."
