"Surprise!" Underwood captions a photo of her holding a newborn lamb. "We've got another new life around the farm! This little guy happened to be born on the day of the American Idol finale, so we figured it would only be right if we named him Jamal!!! Mama and Baby J are doing well...and I'm popping by the barn to get snuggles every chance I get! Welcome to the world, little dude!"

Carrie Underwood On 'American Idol'
Underwood enjoyed her inaugural season as a judge on American Idol, 20 years after she won Season 4 in 2005. When Underwood first auditioned for the show, she was hoping to get some notoriety so she could work in journalism in her home state of Oklahoma.
"I was a broadcast journalism major," she recalls in an Idol to Icon episode. "I thought 'Okay, with every step, it's gonna be a little bit easier for me to get a job when I get sent home.' I was very practical in my thinking."
Even being in the Top 10 was a thrill for Underwood, who still thought victory was unattainable for her.
"Top 10 was a little more of a relaxing stage to be in, because it's like 'Okay, no matter what happens, like, this is Top 10. We're here, and nobody can take that away.'"
In spite of Simon Cowell's prediction, Underwood says it wasn't until the show was almost to the end when she finally started dreaming about being the winner.
"I don't think I let the 'win' scenario enter my brain until, like, Top 3 or 4," she reveals.
