If you've got a penchant for Coors beer, a love of Smokey and the Bandit and a complete lack of respect for the law, then we've got the perfect getaway for you. The Eddy Taproom & Hotel in Golden, Colorado, is offering a Smokey and the Bandit-themed lodging package complete with plenty of beer, a life-size Burt Reynolds cutout, and even a chance to come face-to-grill with the iconic Trans Am from the film.
The Eddy Taproom & Hotel embraces Golden, Colorado's illustrious brewing legacy through an engaging, nostalgia-infused lodging package tailor-made for beer lovers. This September, guests can step into the world of the iconic Smokey and the Bandit film while touring the finest local breweries. Among these hallowed brewing grounds stands the venerable Coors Brewing Co., which is celebrating its 150th anniversary.
"We're excited to offer guests the opportunity to celebrate our town's brewing history and to relive the thrill of Smokey and the Bandit," said Chris Luersen, general manager of The Eddy Taproom & Hotel. "Golden is not only the home of Coors but also a vibrant hub of craft brewing, distilling and outdoor adventure. This package allows visitors to experience the town's exciting culture while also enjoying a unique blend of nostalgia and modern luxury."
Both Golden and the immortal Smokey and the Bandit occupy a sacrosanct corner in the hearts of fervent beer aficionados. Reverently hailed as the "biggest little beer town," Golden is known for birthing a copious volume of brews, a distinction made possible thanks to the hallowed Coors Brewing Co. and an assembly of artisanal breweries nestled within the town's confines.
Coors remained difficult to come by outside of Mississippi until the 1980s. That fact served as the plot for Smokey and the Bandit, in which audacious driver Bo "Bandit" Darville (Reynolds) is commissioned to smuggle 400 cases of Coors to Georgia within 28 hours.
Experience The Eddy's homage to Smokey and the Bandit with a package that guarantees a delightful blend of brews, Burt and American muscle. The Eddy's esteemed cicerone, which is essentially a sommelier for beer, will guide guests on a curated brewery expedition and a three-course meal with beer pairings.
Upon arrival, guests will be greeted with a six-pack of Coors along with a Coors Banquet gift package, a life-size cutout of Reynolds, and the opportunity to visit the Trans Am from the film at the nearby Rods & Bodz Museum along with all of the iconic movie vehicles on display. A private photo shoot with the Trans Am can be arranged for an additional fee.
The Smokey and the Bandit package starts at $900 for two. To book, people should contact the hotel directly at 720-442-8150 or email [email protected].
