The Sad Reason That Popular Music Artists Are Joining OnlyFans For A Paycheck

The music industry is going through a weird time at the moment. Ticket sales for someone like Beyoncé are at an all time high, and yet artists like Kate Nash are having to take to OnlyFans in order to fund their next tour.

Streaming platforms such as Spotify pay their artists a paltry amount per stream. Album sales are also incredibly low now as a result of streaming. It has forced many very popular artists to find other forms of income.

Tours often put artists in debt, if they're not big enough. To stay relevant and still give fans a chance to see their favourite artist play, they're taking to the lewd modelling platform to fund shows. Many famous artists, such as Nash, Lilly Allen, Brooke Candy, and even country singer Austin Mahone have opened up an OnlyFans.

Kate Nash Defends Her Artstic OnlyFans Alter Ego

Speaking about her decision to get into OnlyFans, artist Kate Nash said, "'I don't have rich parents. I don't know a millionaire that would invest in me. And I was like, "Well, butts for tour buses is a funny campaign." I was like, why don't I just do this and make a punk protest about how little our music is valued and let's see if my a**e is worth more."

For her, she is able to write OnlyFans off as a punk protest, but not everyone sees it that way. Many of her fans are a little upset by her decision to get into pornography. But, for Nash there is little other options. Her music isn't making the money it deserves, so this is what she has to do.

"The cost of presenting live music has gone up by 30.3 percent over the past two years," she told The Sunday Times. "There were 125 venues that closed last year in the UK. And, the value of recorded music is extremely low. You're paid 0.003 of a penny per stream." It's clear to see why she made the decisions she did.

It's a sorry sight to see such talented artists having to sell pictures of their butts online. For someone like Lilly Allen, just her feet are enough to bring in the big bucks. But, it says a lot about what we value when an OnlyFans brings in more money for artists than their art.
