The Jessica Andrews Impostor That Still Releases Music Under Her Name

This may be the craziest story I've written in my career, ladies and gentlemen. Remember Jessica Andrews? Well, she has an impostor that keeps releasing music under her official name. And it's bad, real bad.

If you looked up Jessica Andrews on Spotify or Apple Music, you may be surprised to see that she's been steadily releasing music for years. This is because there is a crazed fan out there who simply won't accept that Andrews has been done with music since 2004.

The "Who I Am" hitmaker stopped making music when her label was sold in 2004. In the crossfire, an album she recorded never saw the light of day. Instead of simply fading from the scene, however, one fan took it upon themselves to continue the Jessica Andrews music streak.

In a recent interview with Bobby Bones, Andrews talked all about her impersonator. And it's a wild ride.

It started pretty small, but has really blown out of proportion.

At first, the impostor simply sought out unreleased songs and released them. Not great, but it was a meagre beginning. "But then after they ran out of material, then they would just start singing themselves but then yet they'll release it under my name."

Jessica Andrews Imposter Even Started Booking Shows Under Her Name

"If you go on Apple Music right now you can find all of this bogus, horrible sounding stuff. The quality's bad. And I'm like, oh my gosh, I really hope people don't think that I'm putting out these songs. It's terrible," she continued.

And it's true. Jessica Andrews' discography is plagued with awful Cover Your Eyes albums, each one a sequel of the last that's littered with covers and what sounds like originals from the impostor. As recently as a few damn days ago, a cover of "Look What You Made Me Do" was released.

The cover of the single is Andrews with Bobby Bones, and came out after the interview. Something tells me this isn't a coincidence.

The impostor has done interviews as Andrews, booked shows, signed contracts, and autographed items — the whole lot. There isn't anything the impostor hasn't done, frankly. And no amount of legal action has dissuaded her, either.

The real Jessica Andrews has even been contacted by fans when the impostor failed to show to events she booked under Andrews' name.

Something tells me the obsessed fan won't stop. I'm just hoping this doesn't escalate any further.

I'd recommend you listen to the interview. It's a wild ride.
