Wallen, 32, is gifting $1.2 million to Gibbs High School in Corryton, Tennessee, to upgrade its baseball field.

Wallen graduated from Gibbs High School in 2011. He was a shortstop for the school's national championship baseball team during his junior year, per local outlet WATE. In 2025, the baseball field was renamed in his honor as the Morgan Wallen Field, per the outlet.

While Wallen ultimately traded in his bat and gloves for a microphone and a guitar, his love for the school's athletic department still runs deep.

Should the philanthropic act be approved by the Knox County Commission, the donation could revitalize the baseball field into a "versatile, state-of-the-art multi-use athletic field," according to commission documents viewed by PEOPLE.

With his money, the school also plans to "build a softball hitting and pitching facility on the school's campus."

The Commission has an item on its April agenda to approve the grant agreement with the Wallen Foundation for the funding.

Wallen, the 2024 CMA Entertainer of the Year, has previously donated to Gibbs programs. This includes its band program, core program and basketball program. He has also poured into the Gibbs Youth Sports and Jefferson City Little League.

Wallen Uses Concert Earnings to Fund Foundation

Wallen's donation will be made through his foundation, which supports underprivileged communities and promotes youth music and sports programs.

According to its website, Wallen's personal funds and consumer donations are the main sources of funding for the Morgan Wallen Foundation. Additionally, the foundation receives three dollars from each concert ticket the artist sells.

Following his fruitful baseball journey at Gibbs, Wallen has blossomed into a massive Country star.

After recently entering Spotify's coveted Billions Club with three singles - "Whiskey Glasses," "I Had Some Help" with Post Malone and "Last Night" - surpassing one billion streams on the platform, Morgan Wallen is now the RIAA's highest certified Country artist of all time.

The Tennessee-born star was nominated for two Grammy Awards in 2025.

Wallen recently kicked off his Still the Problem nationwide tour, which will roll through Las Vegas in May.
