According to his wife, Bunnie Xo, Jelly Roll will be gifting one of his Grammys to the Davidson County Juvenile Detention Center in Nashville.
"I know he's going to give one to the Juvenile in Nashville to kind of give them a little inspiration and let them have a Grammy to themselves," she said.
Jelly Roll spent some of his teenage years in a similar facility. Yet, upon his release, he managed to turn his life around to the point where he's now a global megastar. Providing that kind of inspiration for those within the center could prove invaluable.
In a 2022 interview with People, Jelly Roll explained how influential his time in juvenile detention was for him.
"I was in and out of there for about three, three and a half years. I spent a lot of time there and eventually got charged as an adult for a crime I committed as a juvenile. And I just realized that was the most impactful thing that ever happened in my life, and the darkest moments of my life still were being that 15-year-old scared kid spending Thanksgiving away from his family."
The country star is clearly hoping that his story and his success can help provide a light at the end of the tunnel for those who are in a similar situation to what he found himself in.
"That is my husband," Bunnie Xo said. "That's what he does."
Jell Roll Avoided Political Talk During the Grammys
During the Grammys, Jelly Roll was in no mood to get swept into a political discussion. So, when he was asked about his thoughts on the current political climate, he reminded everyone that he's simply 'a redneck.'
"People shouldn't care to hear my opinion. I'm a dumb redneck," Jelly Roll said. "I hate to be the artist that sounds aloof, but I just feel so disconnected from what's happening. I didn't know politics were real until I was in my mid-20s in jail. That's how disconnected you are when you grow up in a drug-addicted household."
Eventually, Jelly Roll will speak on his political thoughts. But during the Grammys, he likely wanted to live in the moment and enjoy his success. And if we're being honest, who could blame him?
