Reba McEntire has broken her silence over the passing of Jerry Kennedy. The iconic entertainer passed away on Feb. 11 at the age of 85. Reba's comments came via social media, with a Feb. 13 post paying tribute to her 'great friend.'

"The first time I heard Jerry Kennedy play was on Jeannie C. Riley's "Harper Valley PTA." Little did I know I would one day get to work with him," the statement read. "He was a great friend, mentor, a patient teacher and a creative producer."
Kennedy worked with McEntire on two of her albums, both coming in the early 80s: "Feel The Fire" (1980) and "Heart To Heart" (1981).
"I cherish my years getting to work with him and know his family," McEntire's post continued. "My prayers go out to everyone who will miss him as much as I will. RIP my friend. Happy Trails to you, 'til we meet again."
McEntire's comments section was awash with love and support from her fans and followers. On Instagram alone, the post amassed 3,100 likes and 42 comments. It likely gained further traction and interactions on Facebook, too.
According to The New York Times, Kennedy's son, Gordon, has confirmed that his death was due to congestive heart failure.
Reba McEntire's 'Happy Place' Has Been Renewed for Season 3
On a happier note, Reba McEntire looks set to stay on our television screens a little while longer. In a shock announcment from NBC, via Instagram, it was confirmed that Happy Place has been confirmed for season three.
"Another round, please," the caption read. "Happy's Place has officially been renewed for Season 3!"
Reba plays Bobbie on Happy's Place and has appeared in 27 episodes thus far. The renewal of the show is undoubtedly welcomed news, both by her fans and those who genuinely enjoy the show.
Outside of music, Reba is slowly building an impressive list of on-screen credits, with the count at 64. She's also made appearances in Young Sheldon and Big Sky. Still, there's never been a doubt regarding Reba's talent as an entertainer.
And now, with season three of Happy's Place being given the green light, we can look forward to watching more of her in the near future.
