Country-rock legends The Eagles just announced quite the stocking stuffer. On Nov. 2, 2018, Rhino Records will release CD and vinyl box sets titled Legacy, with both featuring special perks.
Both sets include every Eagles studio album, from the band's 1972 self-titled debut to 2007's Long Road Out of Eden, as well as three live albums: Eagles Live, Hell Freezes Over and Millennium Concert. In addition, there's an LP and CD version of a brand new compilation titled Singles and B-Sides. It features single versions of "Take It Easy," "Take It to the Limit," "Outlaw Man," "Lyin' Eyes," "One of These Nights" and others, as well as the non-LP b-side "Get You in the Mood," holiday songs "Please Come Home For Christmas" and "Funky New Year" and the 9/11-inspired "Hole in the World."
CD shoppers get a couple of extra perks, as that set includes the concert videos Hell Freezes Over on DVD and Farewell Tour: Live From Melbourne on blu-ray. The vinyl version might seem unnecessary, considering how easy it is to find a well-loved copy of the best country album in the rock crates, Desperado, or the iconic American rock album Hotel California. Beyond getting all of the band's studio albums in a slip case that includes a brand-new book, the draw for record collectors is a vinyl reissue of Hell Freezes Over. The prior European release of the album on vinyl can cost more than the LP box set's $349.98 list price. In case Santa can't bankroll that, rest easy knowing that the CD edition only costs $179.98.
The Eagles legacy lives on as a live act, featuring Vince Gill and the late Glenn Frey's son Deacon since 2017.
