Would you like to be the lucky (or unlucky) owner of the historic Amityville Horror House? All you need is $850,000 and nerves of steel.
The listing on Zillow talks up the riverfront property with no mention of the horrors that took place there decades ago, but the history of the home will surely be on the minds of every potential owner.
108 Ocean Ave. on Long Island, N.Y. was the site of a gruesome and famous American mass-murder. The address (formerly 112 Ocean Ave.) is now different from when the murders took place due to current owners requesting a change, understandably.
In 1974, Ronald DeFeo Jr. shot and killed his parents and two younger brothers in the house. DeFoe's lawyers claimed that voices in the house made him kill his family, thus sparking movies, books and websites dedicated to the "haunted" Amityville house.
Gerald O'Neill, of Coldwell Banker Harbor Light, listed Zillow. Though the house is said to be haunted, O'Neill claims that it's simply not true, telling AOL, "There've been four owners since the murders, and none of them ran out of the house screaming, and there were no strange experiences."
O'Neill also says he's hoping to avoid curious people inquiring about the home and acting interest just to get a look inside of it. We're pretty sure that will be a difficult task, as people today are still fascinated by the Amityville Horror House and the tragedy that took place there.
