A Texas woman is in serious trouble after allegedly murdering her husband and burning down his new truck. She then apparently tried to flee on a kayak.

It sounds like a scene from a screwball black comedy. So let's back up and examine exactly what happened here. Starting with the facts, 40-year-old Faith Paige Goynes is in jail. And her husband, married by common law, Tomas Calavera is dead.
The bizarre crime happened in San Antonio. Police have charged the Texas woman with both murder and arson as a result. Calavera's father became worried when his son apparently couldn't contact him.
He requested a welfare check for his son. He revealed to authorities that when he went to his son's home he couldn't locate him. After arriving themselves, deputies from the Bexar County Sheriff's Office searched the property for Calavera.
Texas Woman Murders Husband
Sadly, they located the body of the missing man inside his closet. It appears that someone shot the man in the face and killed him. That wasn't the only piece of evidence they found either. Shortly after the finding, Calhoun County linked the Texas woman to the murder.
They found that she allegedly set her husband's 2024 GMC pickup truck on fire in Port O'Connor. They found and arrested her. She's being held at the Calhoun County Jail on charges of murder and arson causing serious bodily injury or death.
The investigation found a yellow gas can and also a lighter near the burn truck. Authorities found severe burns to the vehicle upon examination. Apparently, the Texas woman also accidentally lit herself on fire.
A witness observed Goynes allegedly attempting to put the fire out after she caught blaze. She then walked away from the burning truck. From there, deputies and a Texas Parks and Wildlife officer managed to track Goynes down. The Texas woman was attempting to paddle away in a kayak.
She had severe burns on her right hand. She also had Calavera's id as well. Following an interrogation, the Texas woman confessed to both shooting her husband and stealing his truck.
She's in a lot of hot water.
