Texas Teen Uses George Strait Songs to Ask Girlfriend to Prom

The music of George Strait helped one Texas teen snag his dream date to prom.

Jake Koppelman used the help of his family and the writing of his favorite country star to come up with the perfect prom proposal for his girlfriend, Cheyenne Cavanaugh. A year prior, he came up with the idea to use a line from Strait's 1995 hit "Check Yes or No" to pop the question. With the help of his family, he created a poster with the words "I think this is how PROM goes" to present to Cheyenne.

"My dad bought the materials and my wonderful mom and 16-year old sister handled the painting and writing," Koppelman told Taste of Country. When Cheyenne and Jake headed to a Texas A&M baseball game with his family, he knew it was the perfect moment to try and win her over.

"I snuck away to go get the posters, and when I came back, she had a face of complete surprise and joy," Koppelman says. In the middle of a blooming field of bluebonnets, Cavanaugh happily accepted his request to take her to their prom. "Safe to say, we took far more pictures than Cheyenne thought we would in those bluebonnets!"

I'll bet these two lovebirds never forget the moment that their favorite country singer helped make their prom dreams a reality.
