Texas Soldier Saluting Fallen Vet in Rain Draws Praise Online

A Fort Hood Soldier is receiving praise after saluting a fallen veteran's funeral procession in the pouring rain.

According to KWTX.com, Kenneth Varnes was traveling northbound on Highway 195 in Killeen, when he noticed the funeral procession.

After pulling over out of respect, he realized the procession was for a fallen veteran.

Varnes stepped out of his truck and saluted, standing in the rain until the very last patrol car.

"This is probably going to make someone's day, seeing me stand here, and I know how it is to go through a tough time, and I really just did it to make someone's day, that was it," Varnes told KWTX.

Varnes said before he got out of his car, it was pouring rain, but as soon as he got out of the car within seconds the rain transformed into a drizzle.

Soon after the procession, Varnes was flooded with praise on social media after someone captured the moment of him saluting his fellow soldier.

Varnes said it was something didn't even think twice about.
